ABOUT THE POSITION

This is a full-time position at our San Francisco Headquarters. This type of work requires an educational background normally acquired through a high school education or equivalency.  Prosthetic technician course and/or work in skilled crafts or trades are always a plus. Applicant must have critical thinking and problem solving skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall scope will include, but is not limited to:

  • Assist in labor intensive fabrication to maintain sub assembly inventory levels
  • Initiate and complete fabrication and assembly of custom prosthetic systems
  • Vacuum and thermo forming of various types of thermoplastics over patient molds
  • Mixing, pouring, and working with casting plaster and casting tape
  • Workshop organization and cleaning

 Time management and staying on task while maintaining a high level of quality will be extremely important due to production and fabrication time sensitivities. Due to the nature of the precision medical devices we produce, rigorous quality control checks are performed through every process. Practical knowledge of hand and power tools is preferred, but if you don't have in-depth knowledge of these skills, and you have a passion to learn, we are willing to train you.

Daily/weekly duties may include include (DOE), but are not restricted to the following processes, which we will provide training for:

  • Thermoforming (Blister or bubble forming)
  • Heat molding/polishing
  • X-Y Laser alignment
  • Thermo-set carbon pressure forming
  • Carbon fiber resin laminations
  • Plaster mold filling & manipulation
  • Parts/systems assembly

   Tools used around the shop include:   (basic knowledge & use of these is preferred)

  • Rotary arbor sander (Trautman)
  • Disc sander
  • Bench grinder/polisher
  • Band saw
  • Dremel
  • Vacuum forming table
  • Vacuum pump
  • Infrared heat oven
  • Heat presses
  • Wrenches, screwdrivers & torque wrench
  • Sewing machines
  • Drill press

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to use power tools and required equipment

Time Management, Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving, Customer Service, Self-Motivation, Materials and Product Knowledge.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: (Education, Job Experience, Certification, Physical Requirements, Abilities).

  • High School or equivalent work experience
  • Prosthetic technician course and/or work in skilled crafts or trades are a plus
  • Medical device, rehabilitation, prosthetics experience is a bonus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

SALARY & BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $18.00-20.00/hour to start dependent on experience and skill set with room for increases to a driven team member.
